VERY IMPORTANT INFO

FAQ

Created with Sketch.
  • What happens if it rains?
Bali is located in the Tropics and even during the "dry" season it can rain, sometimes a little bit, sometimes massive rain.
As in all trips, you have to adapt to mother nature, if it rains just cover yourself with umbrellas or K-Way
  • Do we need Vaccines? What about malaria?
Bali is NOT at risk of malaria or yellow fever, so save yourself unnecessary prophylaxis.
Dengue is endemic in Bali, it is contracted through the bite of an infected mosquito and causes very high fever and joint pain.
There are no preventions or vaccines for Dengue, just use mosquito repellents.
  • Are there any wild animals?
Of course, we are in the Tropics. If you are bothered by ants, geckos, lizards, etc., perhaps you should consider not traveling to any tropical country or simply accept the fact that you will sometimes find geckos and ants in your rooms (even in high-end resorts).
  • What about the food?
Trying Indonesian cuisine in one of the many warungs (local eateries) is part of the travel experience, and Indonesian cuisine is truly delicious.
However, Bali offers endless opportunities to eat cuisine from all over the world.
In Indonesian warungs and restaurants you will spend on average between 3 and 7 euros per meal.
In Western restaurants and cafes you spend from 6 to 15 euros per meal.
In the nicer restaurants around 15 to 30 euros each.
  • What clothes should I bring?
Bring little stuff, just what you need.
Traveling with a small suitcase or backpack is always better.
Generally speaking, light clothes, T-Shirts, shorts, flip flops and swimsuits. Long trousers and a sweatshirt for the temple areas in central Bali.
A walking or trekking shoe is recommended for some excursions.
It is very useful to bring a K-Way or a light wind/rain jacket.
  • Can I use the ATM to withdraw money?
Yes, certainly. However, it is better to withdraw only at branches inside banks, and avoid isolated ATMs at risk of card cloning. Before leaving, check your card limits with your bank, because there are limits for withdrawals abroad both daily and monthly.
If you have cash and you want to exchange it, it is better to change money only at Authorized Money Changers to avoid scams.
Once you arrive at the airport, change a small sum (50 or maximum 100 euros) for the first expenses.
  • What about Electricity in Indonesia?
Most power plugs and sockets in Indonesia are type C and F. This plug is the 2 pin socket and plug design which is the standard European plug. If you’re coming from a country that does not use this type of sockets, you should buy an adapter. Amazon sells plenty, but you can also find them in many local minimarkets around Indonesia.
The standard voltage throughout Indonesia is normally 230 V and with a standard frequency of 50 Hz. If you’re from the UK, Europe, Australia and most of Asia or Africa, most of your phones, laptops and other gadgets could be charged like normal. However, if you come from countries like the United States, Canada, and most South American countries, the range of voltage differs here in Indonesia..
